Holy Hotness ~ Kestrel by A.M. Hargrove

Kestrel (a Hart Brothers novel) by A.M. Hargrove

This is an adult contemporary romance novel (Rated NC-17)

 ♥♥♥♥1/2
(Four and a Half Swoon Worthy Hearts)

Book Summary

 Kestrel (A Hart Brothers Novel)

**This is the 3rd book in the series, but it is a Stand Alone Novel

**Not intended for readers under the age of 18 due to its mature content and strong language.

Two lives with horrific pasts. One chance meeting that changed them both forever.

“One look at her and I want to run. Frizzy hair, thick glasses, mom jeans, and ruffles up to her neck. Who the hell wears shit like that? What decade is she living in? My mother doesn’t even dress like that!”

Raised by a monster, Kestrel Hart somehow survived. Now that the monster is dead, he’s trying to move on, to pull himself together. Struggling with issues no one can imagine, he moves away from his family, from the brother who loves him, and the sister-in-law who supports and understands him the best.

Charleston, South Carolina is his new home. And he has a purpose. He’s opening up a new division of his brother’s corporation. But a surprise awaits him. Her name is Carter Drayton.

Carter’s past is also a painful one. She is dealing with the tragic death of her family. She’s healing in the only way she knows how.

Carter needs love. Kestrel craves human contact. Neither of them recognizes what’s right before their eyes. Will they see it before it’s too late?

My Review

This is a story about two broken people with totally different past. One wants to protect and the other doesn’t want to get close. Talk about opposites attract.
Oh how I love a story about a broken man. I don’t want to give anything away, but Kestrel’s story runs deep, but so does Carter’s. These two have a chance meeting that will spark a future to come but it won’t come easy. And what would the fun in that be it happened too easy. There will be some laughs in the story too.
The tension between the two will build and when the damn breaks, talk about holy hotness. Kestrel will make you swoon and make it hard to put the book down.
But this isn’t all about sweet nothings, this book has meat. It has a dash of danger and mystery to spice up the dish to one book you’ll want to get your hands on. This author has a way of keeping things interesting by not giving us a boring tried romance.
If you like a romance with a bit more grit than your mother’s old harlequin romances, check this one out.
My book boyfriend Kestrel.

This is not a happy love story ~ Insurmountable by T.E. White

Insurmountable (Sins of the Father #1) by T.E. White

This is a New Adult contemporary romance (Rated NC-17)

 ♥♥♥♥♥
(Five WTF Hearts)

Book Summary

This isn’t some happy love story. If you want that, try something else. No, I own this nightmare and would have never guessed it could have happened to me.

My life is painstakingly puzzled out. And if I have to admit it, I fall for Red the first time I see her. In fact, she is the first of many things for me and maybe my last. She is the reflection of my happiness and the beginning to my end. She is the stain that covers my heart in the color of her blood-red hair.

Thoughts of her consume me and continue to bombard my mind like ricochet gunfire. So what can possibly go wrong, you wonder? A humorous chuckle escapes me, in case you didn’t hear it. Yeah, I can tell you, but you will judge me unfairly. This you need to hear from the beginning, so you know all the facts and feel what I felt. Maybe even sympathize and not give me your scorn. Then maybe you can possibly… possibly comprehend the enormity of my crossroads.

You have to know I never planned or meant for any of this. It isn’t my fault. It’s someone else’s sins that have efficiently destroyed my life in one fell swoop. My name?

My name is Tade Astor and happiness for me is insurmountable.

My Review

I wouldn’t say this book is dark, but it deals with a sensitive subject matter. I’m not sure if that’s the best description but it’s what I’ve got. If you are faint of heart, this story isn’t for you. There is a WTF moment that will either put you off or give you pause (a thought provoking moment).
This book is told entirely from the guy’s POV. For me, it’s an interesting switch up. I’m not sure if it would have been as interesting if told from hers.
Tade is the typical, rich, handsome, playboy type. And Reagan is the typical shy girl with not a lot of experience and some heart ache. The setting is college and that’s where the story of boy meets girl in a typical love story ends.
This story will fool you about what the twist is, but don’t count on it. To say it’s different is an understatement. I can’t say more because it would spoil it for you. You have to read blind to get the full enjoyment.
Anyway, it was a pleasurable read especially because of the uniqueness.
My book boyfriend is Tade.

Review: Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning

Shadowfever (Fever, #5)Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know a book (series) is epic when…
1. You cannot put it down. Literally. All life around you becomes unimportant. Sleep? Don't need it. Food? Will accommodate as long as you can eat one-handed while holding your Kindle in the other.

2. You invest in the characters. You dream of them. You wish you could meet them. You want to be them. You miss them when they are gone. More than you miss your family.

3. The story comes to life. You are driving down the street expecting to see a rhino-boy at any moment (or insert fictional creature of your choice).

4. You are in love with one of the characters and if he showed up on your doorstep you could die happy. Jericho Z. Barrons. Enough said.

5. Even the secondary characters that you know next to nothing about pique your interest so much that you want to stalk the author until she promises to write a book about them and then stalk her until she actually writes it and you have it in your hands.

This is what the Fever series did to me. I finished Shadowfever two days ago and I am craving more. I miss Barrons so much. *Sigh* There's not much else to say. I knew it was going to end eventually but still I went through it as fast as I could because I had to find out what was going to happen. As they say, don't cry because it's over, be happy because it happened. I'm happy.

Stella Approves of this Hump Day Post...

OK now... I'm a little late.  Fasionably late, no less.  But hey... that's Diva Alana for you, right?  So, there is this book coming out soon (a real shocker, I know) that I have been eagerly awaiting to share with everyone!

ALL LINED UP,
the first book in Cora Carmack's highly anticipated Rusk University Series!
ALL LINED UP is a New Adult Contemporary Romance novel published by William Morrow (an imprint of HarperCollins). It is due to be released on May 13, 2014!!

ABOUT ALL LINED UP:
In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.
But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.
Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.
Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.
And neither of them knows how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

“Laughter + heartache + hot sexual tension = the perfect Cora Carmack book.”

Let's take a moment, shall we, to be introduced to Stella...
She may well be one of the best BFF's out there, I know I sure would have gotten into all kinds of crazy trouble with her.  Goodness knows I got into it enough without her.

So, Stella has this 'Stamp of Approval' which is like the little devil sitting on your shoulder saying, "This is a GOOD idea."  It's the perfect foil for Dallas, and her 'Stamp of Disapproval'.
I'm a big believer in not doing today what you can put off till tomorrow, or the next day, or next week...
And can I say, if you've never 'tubed' a river (see above photo) you are really missing out!  But beware, you're drunker than you think and won't realize until you stand up out of the tube and try to walk.  Yes, I know this from experience, and 'shhh!' with your disapproving eyebrows.
Yes, I may well know what this is like... in New Orleans... during Mardi Gras... and have a picture to prove it.  No, wait, my friend from college still has that photo and has threatened to post it.  Oh, well, it was college, right?

Yes, they ARE addictive.  No, one is never enough.  Neither is three.

Predator's Serenade - Gemini Island Shifters 2 by Rosanna Leo

PREDATOR’S SERENADE

Book Description:

There are three things that make bear shifter Soren Snow’s skin crawl: mothers, their children, and the great outdoors. Soren is a famed musician and playboy, and he would rather spend his days pressing the flesh with the women in his fan club than developing meaningful relationships. When his brother calls in a favor, forcing Soren to revisit the Ursa Fishing Lodge in Northern Ontario, he couldn’t be more displeased. However, he owes his brother big time.

Gioia Clementine would rather not meet Soren, her drummer son’s rock idol. But when tragedy strikes her home, it seems the only one the boy might respond to is Soren. Gioia begrudgingly agrees to let her son meet him, hoping the rock star won’t turn her tween into a musical misogynist.

When Gioia and Soren meet, the sexual chemistry threatens to set the Ontario woodland ablaze. Can these two opposites find a common ground? And can they manage to resolve their unwanted feelings, even when a mysterious stranger arrives at the lodge, threatening everything?

Excerpt:

Gioia followed Soren's approach with a curious eye. She'd wondered if the miracle kisser would beat a hasty retreat after witnessing her boy fall to pieces, and yet here he was. He wore the same famished look he had right before he'd ruined her for any other man's kiss. And she felt it too. The tingles between her shoulder blade, the gelatin knees, and trembling lips that wanted to gobble him up.

She couldn't. She didn't want to saddle him with such a wreck of a woman or family.

He came right up to her, so close, as if making a mockery of the space that sought to separate them. Weaving his fingers through her hair, he cradled her skull and pulled her close. Tucking her head against his chest, he kissed the top of her head, blazing a trail of hot reaction down her spine. He had new clothes on and smelled fresh and clean. As she breathed him in, he rained soft kisses all over her head.

He knows.

She pulled away, suddenly terrified he'd think she was a travesty of a mother. It's what anyone would think in his case. They'd wonder what Gioia had done wrong to create a monster child. But as she attempted to remove herself from his grasp, Soren fought her by holding her still. Again she tried jerking away from his wall of a chest. He held her firm.

When she tried two more times, each time unsuccessfully, he looked at her and shouted, "Dammit, woman, I am not letting you go, so you can stop pulling away from me!"
Something in Gioia broke. She'd been carrying her sadness around for so long, trying to be strong, and Soren was offering to be strong for her. For just a moment, maybe she could surrender. God only knew how badly she wanted to give herself to the bear man.

He grabbed her tighter, and his hands slid down to mold over her ass cheeks. His warm breath was all over her face, and she took a dizzying dive into the seas of his eyes. He ground her against him, and she was forced to stand on tip toes.

"Gioia," he whispered.

She wound her arms about his tense neck, felt him tense further. Then … a sigh somewhere in his big frame and a relaxation in his muscles. As if he needed to have her wound about him. As if it soothed him as much as her.

"Soren. Please."

As he kissed her, he picked her up, his hands under her bottom. Her miniskirt rode up, and she spared a second to mentally curse her decision to wear it. And then she didn't care.

Kissing her madly, Soren spirited her into the woods.
